The TAO represents the principle of energy in the universe. The celebrated YIN/YANG symbol (or Tai Chi), represents the balance in energy - that nature requires for two polarities to exist. (e.g male/female). The energy of Tao brings all things into existence and in order for us to live in harmony with the universal energy, we must accept that "it" knows best. We are not in control, only part of the grander sheme of things.
